Re-Opening of Tunstall Detachment

Posted on 8th October, 2022

The Trustees were delighted to be invited to attend the re-opening of the Army Cadet Force’s Tunstall Detachment on Saturday 8 October 2022. The detachment was closed for most of 2021 for a complete rebuild. It is now a brand new building that plays host to the thriving Army Cadet Force detachment within.

The assembled dignitaries were welcomed by the Commandant of the S&WM(NS)ACF, Colonel Simon Donegan, who gave a brief speech thanking all those involved in the planning, construction and operation of this new facility before handing over to the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Mr Faisal Hussain, who cut the ceremonial ribbon and declared the new facility open.

Invited guests enjoyed a buffet and were able to talk with the local army cadets, who took great pleasure in demonstrating the kit they have been trained to use. It was fantastic to hear from Major Alex Martin that the new building has resulted in many more young people joining the detachment over recent weeks. The Trustees wish the adult volunteers and their cadets every success in the future.
