Titanic Brewery Support for our Army Cadets

Posted on 18th November, 2024

The Friends of the Army Cadet Force are pleased to announce a donation from the Titanic Brewery Foundation that will be used for the purchase of much needed boots for our serving cadets.

The cheque was presented by to Cadet Lance Corporal Williams and Cadet Sergeant Caddick, who are serving cadets, by Mr Glen Probert (Titanic Brewery Foundation) with Major Tim Bird and the Commandant Mr Chris Edwards OBE TD FIFST VR at a small ceremony held at the Cadet Headquarters in Stafford on 22nd October 2024.

Commandant Christopher Edwards who leads the near 1000 strong contingent of local Cadets said “Boots are not provided nationally and I am deeply thankful for the donation in helping towards ensuring that no Cadet is without the right footwear needed to carry out their training”

The award by the Titanic Foundation, a newly launched philanthropy organisation formed in June 2024, is one of the first awards it has made. Mr Glen Probert, Trustee of the Titanic Foundation said “A Cadet can go through 2 or 3 pairs of boots a year through use and size changes as the cadet grow and they cost around £50 a pair. For some families this cost is a barrier to the young person joining in cadet activities. The Cadets use their boots for everything – meetings, parades and fieldwork, so they learn to look after them well and pass them on if possible”.

Chairman of the Friends Trust, a registered charity that raises money for our local Army Cadet Force, Mr Graham Morley DL added his sincere appreciation to the Titanic Foundation for their donation, saying “This donation by the Titanic Brewery Foundation will make a significant difference to the experience of the cadets, removing a significant barrier to engagement and progression. I’m delighted that the Foundation has chosen its local Army Cadet Force as one of its first beneficiaries”.
